Gabriel Chodos, Claude's last piano teacher from 1994 to 1996, remembers his student:
![Claude Mottier studied with me at my private studio and in the Aspen Music Festival. Claude was a serious, musical and intelligent young pianist and he had much beauty in his soul. He was very committed to his family's magnificent musical legacy. His elegant and persuasive performance of the Chopin Ballade No. 3 in a concert at Aspen still stays in my mind.
